How to pass the ECE BOARD EXAM?

How to pass the ECE board exam?

I was an average student when I was in college. Some times on the upside, some on the down. And knowing that that was my condition I was deeply worried about how I would turn out for the boards. I mean, I can barely keep up with 10 or so subjects per semester, what more with all ECE subjects. But let me give you some tips on how to pass the ECE boards, these are the things that I would've wanted to tell myself when I first opened the books to review for the boards:

1. Stick to the basics

No thick old Tomasi books! I think if I wanted or really aimed to be a top notcher I would have read it, but I didn't aim that far because of the hassles that it would take, I didn't wanna pressure myself that much.  Instead, read summarized books like Villamor (PERCDC) for Electronics which cost 500.00 and Frenzel (Recto) for ESAT which cost 150.00, and then once you cover all the basics keep on answering multiple-choice questions of Blake, Malvino, etc. Most of the time those are the books that examiners use.

2. Time management

Yeah, I know you can't really manage time, but make a schedule. It is important to find the time fit for you. For me, I make sure I'm asleep by 12am, and wake up at 6 or 7am. That's how I was. I didn't pull all-nighters cause I'd be so sleepy the next day.

Schedule your subjects. When I was studying I made sure I run over all subjects per day, and I tell you it was quite a hassle. Solution? Start early and schedule one subject per 5 days or a week. And if you don't start early you'd cram like me and find the need to study all subjects per day. What a hassle!

3. Find the right people

Surround yourself with the right people, it's the board exam, find friends who will encourage you, share information, and teach you when you need help. Keep all the negativities out, cause I'll tell you the reality. When you start studying early, with the wrong people they'll question your motivation. A lot of people tend to stress out and cram near the board exam, don't be one of them. Study when you can, especially when other people are slacking off, that puts you in a big advantage.

4. Techniques

My review center provided enhancements for Math and Geas, and it was really helpful. At the end of the day after covering all basics of Math and Geas I focused on the refresher and techniques and just kept answering and mastering how to solve each problem, instead of trying to answer books.

5. Find the right review center

All those review centers keep on advertising their topnotchers and all, but I think it's more important to consider their passing rate. Fact: most review centers give special classes to potential topnotchers. So seeing that this review center has produced 'n' topnotchers isn't much of a help at all. And please inspect those review centers that don't heavily rely on recommendations. Go at the peak hours, when they're conducting a lesson to see how the environment really is in that review center. Find a good environment, after all a hot, congested, and dim place would certainly affect your performance.

6. Index cards and manila papers

Yes, it's true all those manila paper-covered walls were a big help. It helps you memorize information when you see it every day. Index cards are also a plus, make one for every subject. My tip is to write the formulas in front and forgettable terms at the back, and just read it when you have time. I made the mistake of stacking as many formulas as I can, that in the end I barely had time to memorize it with so much information. To assign a formula day, Sunday would be good, just to keep up with everything you write.

That's all I have to say. I also made a post about the reality of the ECE board exam. You can find the link below. Thanks for reading!
